Does Mindwell Take Insurance?

MindWell is happy to support you in requesting reimbursement from your PPO insurance company for our services. We strongly encourage you to contact your insurance company directly to find out the amount your policy will reimburse. We are considered out-of-network for all PPO insurance companies.

How Does it Work?

Clients pay the fee at the time of the session. We will give you a receipt to submit to your insurance for direct reimbursement. Some of our clients receive anywhere from 20% to 70% reimbursement for individual therapy depending on the policy. The amount (and whether you are entitled to reimbursement) is dependent on your unique policy benefits and if you have met your annual deductible. Most insurance companies do not pay for Couples therapy as relationship struggles do not qualify as a medical diagnosis.

Out-of-Pocket Billing

We offer several options for those who need to pay for services out-of-pocket. You can: Pay with cash, credit, or debit cards Use an HSA card or flex spending card

Are There any Risks Involved in Using my Insurance?

Using your medical insurance for therapy may involve some risk so we want you to understand how this may affect you. In order to use your medical insurance, the patient/client must be given a mental disorder diagnosis which will then be listed on your medical records. This could cause problems later when you might be asked, “Have you ever been diagnosed with a mental illness?” on a job application or when applying for health insurance or life insurance. It is up to you whether to use your insurance benefit, but we want to make you aware of potential complications in the future. Paying out- of-pocket reduces this liability as no one will have access to your records unless required by law. As noted, many insurance companies do not pay for couples therapy as they do not see relationship struggles as a medical problem.
